Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual blood drive. The event was a huge success. We will be having another blood drive in December so check the rugby event calendar online.
Congratulations to Trevor Beals, Dan Randow, and Luis Espinoza for making the Alexandria All-Star team. The guys will be traveling to Scotland for the Mayor's Cup Challenge to play a match against the city of Dundee. They will be leaving on August 5th so let's wish them well and give them our support as they are representatives of Baltimore-Chesapeake Rugby.
Youth rugby
The first Baltimore youth team is up and running. I would like to thank everyone who has helped, especially the coaches: Chris Kirby, Rob Books, Danny Cohen, Jeff Brotman and to Wade Gowl for getting this thing off the ground. None of this would have been possible without their efforts. Their first game is this weekend, so come out and support them. They are the future of Baltimore Rugby. Check the website for all the details.
Likewise, this is the first season in almost a decade that we have been able to field a competitive 7's side. Currently, the boys are in 6th place in the MARFU with one Qualifier tournament remaining in Norfolk, Va. on July 12. The finals are being held in Richmond on July 26. The guys are young, but they have played extremely well even beating top ranked Philly-Whitemarsh at the MD Exiles 7's. They are working hard and will continue to improve and should be a tough match come playoff time. Thank you to all of the guys who have helped make this a success.
Fall Practice Update - I know it's early but fall practice is set to start on Tuesday, August 12. Time and location to be determined.
Next Old Boys match - The Atlantic Cup, August 16-17, Dewey Beach, Delaware
Get your plans straight and commit to being a part of us! Let me know. We have some internal competition now. I hear Baltimore County (Bacon) is putting together a side. They are part of us, but if takes them fielding a separate team to get some watchers to participate, that’s a good thing. So come on Josh, bring it on!
New BC t-shirts have arrived. Please see Wade or Jim Hale
