Poly High School Rugby
Poly rugby is up and running again this spring and we are looking for support. We now have a website, www/geocities.com/polyrugby/, and a paypal link where anyone can donate any amount to the club. Please take a minute and reflect upon the impact of rugby in your lives and what it would mean to these kids if you could help them. We are looking for any help that you can give. We will also be practicing from 3:30 to 5:00, Monday through Thursday. We welcome all able bodies to come out.
Thanks,
Jeff Brotman

Rugby Head Coach
Poly High School
Andover Apaches Rugby
Seeking forwards coach with particular knowledge of scrums and lineouts. They practice on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7 to 9 PM at the North County High School Stadium starting in the last week of January. This is their stadium turf field with lights. This is a great opportunity to give back to the rugby community and to recruit some young players. The days are perfect b/c they practice on our off days. So, make sure you get out and get a run in with these kids. You can contact Pat Walsh at 410-691-9970 or walshpj@erols.com

Important ELV Update
Scrumhalf Offsides at the scrum (Ruling 4)
Summary
1. Both scrum halves must take up a position on the same side of the scrum as the scrum half throwing in the ball (the scrum half not throwing in the ball may be positioned behind the offside line for the non participants and must stay there until the scrum is over).
2. After the ball has been won the scrum half of the team who has not won the ball who was positioned next to the player throwing in the ball can do one of two things:
a. Follow the ball whilst remaining on side
b. Go directly back to the hindmost foot in the scrum and then take up a position anywhere behind this offside line.

I stumbled across the Natty Boh song the other day, so I thought I would share it with you:
National Beer
National Beer
You'll love the taste of National Beer
And while I'm singing
I'm proud to say
It's brewed on the shores
of Chesapeake Bay!

Years playing: 10 efficient years

Why you started playing: My freshman roommate wanted to play, so I tagged along. He quit after day 2, 10 years later, here I am, in Mobtown...
Favorite International team: Life University
Favorite players: Anyone who passes me the ball
Biggest influence on rugby: Please rephrase this question. I think it means "in" rugby. "In" rugby, Joe "Jomo" Morrison...taught me more about rugby than anyone else. I travel all the way to Philly in the summer just to be coached by him and Emil Signes
Best memory in rugby: First being self-elected Mayor of Try City, Making to Nationals in 7's, Atlantis trip to Benidorm, topping BC rugby in scoring Fall 2008
Biggest disappointment in rugby: Spring 2008 season / loss to White Plains, not winning a single game at 7's Nationals (2 years in a row!)
Favorite post-match ritual: Chug water, stuff my face, hang out for an hour pounding beers, sneak out early, and go to sleep. On away games, wet the air mattress

Favorite quotes: "Should we play best out of 5 instead of first to 3?" ~Swingline
"'Well, if you had a test today, why'd you get so drunk last night?' "I couldn't help it man, I was drinking beers!"" ~College friend
"Run straight to pass!" ~Jomo...he has countless others.
"Simple as that...boop!" ~Matias Iriarte
